Paula Nelson, Principal
Counselor's Corner
As School Counselor, my goal is to help all students navigate through
this year as smoothly as possible. I lend support to parents and
teachers in any way I can. Together we create a positive and caring
school community where all students feel safe and respected, and can
grow into confident learners.
I meet with students who drop in to solve friendship problems,
playground conflicts or other personal problems.
I have groups that teach friendship skills, study skills, or how to work
on strategies to cope with changing families, divorce, death, anger
issues, making new friends, and self esteem. (parent permission is
needed.)
I also meet with students individually to talk about problems that
interfere with learning, (attention, memory, organizational skills, goal
setting or leaning to face fears.) (parent permission is needed.)
I visit classrooms to teach students about respect and bullying. The
programs used at Seattle Hill are: Kelso's Choices, Steps to Respect,
Second Step, and Navigation 101.
I
offer referral service to connect families to community resources and
outside counseling services.
Please drop in for a visit.
Louise Berman, M.Ed.
