    Kindergarten Registration

We had a wonderful turn-out at Kindergarten Registration on March 20th! It was so exciting to meet our incoming kindergarteners and their families. The kids had fun painting, building, and creating while parents completed paperwork.

Please spread the word – Kindergarten packets are available and in the school office. We encourage you to get registered early.

    Smarter Balanced Assessment

This spring, all 3rd through 6th grade students in Washington state will take the Smarter Balanced Assessment in math and English Language Arts. Students in grades 5 will also take the Measurements of Student Progress (MSP) in science.

This is the fourth year our state and district will administer the Smarter Balanced Assessment. The results from these tests will help us to understand how your child is performing on grade level standards.

We work hard to create the best possible testing environment for our students. All Snohomish students will take the tests online this year. Cathcart is scheduled to take the tests May 15th – 31st.

For more information about the tests and to try out a practice test yourself, visit www.k12.wa.us/smarter.

Thank you for continuing to work with us to make sure your child is successful. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to better support your child.

    We're listening! Your voice matters!

Snohomish School District has launched its Thoughtexchange online engagement tool. Through this unique forum, the school district is able to hear and share a wide variety of perspectives and more fully engage with each other. Thoughtexchange is a three-step online conversation that will help our school district understand what is important to our students, staff, families and community members. There are three steps:

    Thoughtexchange QR code

    1. Share – Answer four, short open ended questions about our schools (March 15–30)

    2. Star – Consider ideas from others and star the ideas you like best (April 12–23)

    3. Discover – Learn what is important to the community as a whole

Many will receive a personalized email invitation to participate. Others can participate in the online tool by clicking here. All input received is completely anonymous. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
